Supernatural 5x19 episode reaction
I wasn't going to say anything about tonight, coz I kinda felt a bit 'meh' about the whole thing, but then I started thinking about that and it turned into an ep-reaction post anyway.

I liked that they bothered to pull in other gods, but I was pretty annoyed at the collection. I mean, where were ALL the Greek gods? Other than Mercury, who is kind of a pretty RANDOM choice to represent the Greeks. I mean, I'd watch a smack-down between Zeus and Lucifer any day.

I mean, it was really bizarre that they BOTHERED to have Kali being all, 'you westerners are so arrogant, thinking you're the only people in the world and that you're better than us.' And yet, Lucifer kicked everyone's asses, so they're still representing the Judeo-christian religion as innately superior. BLAH. Even if you went with the oft-mentioned version of gods are only as powerful as their believers, uh, where was the Buddah? And are we ignoring Islam altogether at this stage?

And what was with the RANDOM EATING OF PEOPLE!? I don't know all that much about Norse mythology, I'll give you that, but I'm pretty sure NONE of those gods are particularly known for EATING PEOPLE FOR DINNER! And Dean being all, 'I'd kick all of your asses given the chance' Um, in general gods are around to maintain balance and keep everything hunky-dory, you don't go around killing them just coz they're not human. What.

I kiiiinda like Kali? I LOVED how she SHUT DEAN DOWN. But it still annoyed me that she was still such an object in the episode. Random shirtless-ness, defined by that man she's with. Blah.

I would have MUCH rather seen Demeter or Athena kicking ass and taking names! Still, it was nice that she was both a) powerful, and b) didn't die.

I was pretty bummed that Gabriel died. At first I was annoyed that he did the whole, 'watch me make eye-contact with the guy sneaking up on you!', but in retrospect, I honestly don't think he could bear to kill his brother. I think he did it to force Lucifer's hand. It was cool that Lucifer was genuinely upset about it. AND it was cool seeing someone being all, 'oh stop taking yourself so seriously'.

Sam and Dean, "you are no good to me burnt out." EEEE! That's right, you take care of your Sammy! I loved their vibe for this whole ep.

I TOTES predicted the, 'we can't kill him so we have to trap him again.' I was still holding out for someone to make the, 'kill him with an angel-knife' point, but I still predicted re-trapping as a possibility.

Question, though, is Sam still the only one who can open it? Ooooooo.

Okay, I'm good now.

Got 900 words done on my Literature Review today for Uni. I had to read 18 SOURCES FOR IT! 18!!! But now I just have to ramble for a bit and I'll be done. MAN I am overworked at the moment, and have been sick 4 days so-far this week, but eh, no time to complain just gotta WORK!

love love
