wow, that's fucked up. i just want you to be healthy and happy and i mean, money is great too but for me there are things i don't want to sacrifice for a job, unless the job is something really really important, like saving the whales or helping people in Haiti, and therefore my job is my life. unfortunately, japan completely disagrees with this way of thinking.
JETs get paid well, and a huge lot of fringe benefits besides. anyone working for a private company in Japan - ALTs and Eikaiwa staff (English Conversation school teachers) get paid shit wages with shit conditions (i don't even get paid leave until i've worked here 6 months).
