Digglett!

"Digglett-Dig! Digglett-Dig! Digglett-Dig!"

*shrnuffles around on the floor*

Well, I have my compuer back *pets computer* which I really need to come up with a cool name for, it wants a name. Though I can't quite decide whether it wants to be a boy or a girl. It's not really femminine, but I don't want a male to be holding all my secrets, so maybe it's like a demon, genderless. Maybe I could be terribly fan-girlish and call it Kiran. (I loves Kiran sooooooo much).

I totally bombed my last assignment during the shifting process, but ah well, see me care? Oh wait, I don't. Only problem being that the end of the year is starting to draw close, and I still really have no idea what I am going to do in 2006. If I were completely honnest, I would say one of three options:

a. Go to america somewhere and work with the international Snow leopard trust, maybe with Das

b. Do something random with Das (maybe we'll finally get around to walking up the length of the country like we always said we would.)

c. Go to uni and study as many varied things as possible, including, chemisty, Japanese, psychology, sociology. Maybe do some art courses..

But I can't get into uni, (though I think I might try again,) till 2007. And I don't really have the cash to go to America, or randomly walk up the length of the country. I'm sure I can figure something out, I just want it to be really exciting, kindof like, a gap year maybe, have fun and be wild before resposiblity permanantly sets in.

*sigh* I don't know..

waaaaah KIRAN!!!! kiran is teh coolest. and benjamin.
and all the rest XD
my computer needs a name too...it deserves one...
but i can't think of one either.
i think i'll quit uni and join a band.
at least, i wish i would.
psych and jap and teh coolest. what uni would you go to?
have fun and be wild -awesomeness-

on a slightly unrelated note;
kouri and karasu got flamed X.X i really hope they don't end
up taking everything down, after this and the plagarism,
because i would cry - i haven't finished reading all of it.
not to mention it would just be tragic in the extreme.

Okay, I am an evil bitch and I don't pretend not to be, but sorry, Kouri and Karasu need to get a spine and deal. Okay, flaming is bad and I don't think it should be encouraged in any way, but I am so sick of those girls going on big whine rants about stuff. I have really high standards from people who are creators and famous in any way, and especially those on the internet. I think that it is a highly special and privillaged position to be in when you have some kind of Art online, because people are giving you their respect when they read or look at your stuff, and being on the internet gives you a great opportunity to really get into it with your fans and get to know them and stuff. Every famous person is just the same and just as special as any 'normal' person, and being well-liked and respected does not give you the right to go throwing your weight around every time some prick comes along and does something annoying. If you are going to host a community like they do, you have to realise there are going to be some skunks, doesn't mean it has to be a. A big deal, or b. everyone else's problem. I have huge respect for people like Dina Stu over at Pandect, and Leigh Bader from Schism, who when their comics became hugely popular, they were still nice enough to talk to everyone and take part in discussions and stuff coz they know they aren't more special, even though everyone around them treats them like Gods.

Fame is not an excuse for petty behaviour, which isn't precicely what happened and KnK's, but they have that way of whining that really gets on my nerves. There write great fiction, I love the WYWM series, and the Fallen Into Grace series is the best, but I think they are getting to rest on their lorals a bit. Crossing Borders isn't that great. I got to a point where I just stopped reading it because it just goes ooon and oooon and there is NO REAL PLOT! Maybe it develops later, but it sure as hell shouldn't take 20something chapters, which is where I left off. They are not god's gift to the world and they should remember that. Flaming is normal, Deal. With. It. It isn't good, and if I ever said anything I would try and point out positives as well as making critisims, but that is no need to have a big cry.

... Man.. that's been festering for a while... I really do like their fiction.. honest.. I just have a big rant about that whole issue. I would have said the same thing for anyone else...

for argument's sake (and no offense intended)

[identity profile] mimei.livejournal.com 2005-08-01 07:59 am (UTC)(link)
well there are times in all their fics when you lose sight of the plot.
WYWM took about 20 chapters, and it had some crushing cliches, like
Lucian's amnesia. i mean cringexcore.
the reason people don't like cb as much is because they
didn't do the necessary research but although they probably should have,
it would have been more than most authors bother with to've done so.
furthermore, their books are people-driven and at the very least they offer
something no other american author can - a panoramic view of the human condition
presented in an unbiased fashion across the board - they use 'good'
and 'evil' as a starting point for challenging such categories...

the truth is, they're better than a lot of published fiction, and
they publish online at their peril - technically it is prepublishing,
which means that potentially they'll never make a cent out of it.
an audience of 500 is more than some published authors would get.

they have every right to ban someone who flames them.
flaming isn't normal - it's someone getting pissed off and taking
it out on the nearest thing. it's unchecked anger. hardly civil.
i read fics that are so terrible i honestly can't tell anymore if the
author's first language is english. it's just so mangled i assume it isn't.
but these are at least encouraging environments, and no one is putting
themselves on the line for fanfiction. it's illogical to allow such
an environment to ensue when you're putting your intellectual property
up for grabs. especially if it's popular.

i just don't think that because someone puts something online it
allows for people to have special license to be dicks to them.
especially when it's not called for, especially in their personal
space. especially in such an exhibitionistic fashion. they should
be treated with more respect than published authors hiding
behind 1st publishing rights, companies, sponsered journalists and
copyrights. they're the ones who have something to lose.

regardless, i think if you want to discuss it, you should let them
know, seeing as i'm not them .__. ...and nothing i said incited that,
regardless of the fact i disagree with most of it.

be happy ne =S

Sorry it's taken so ling to reply, been crazy-busy.

I don't hate KnKfics or anything remotely close, I love their writing and think they have a lot of skill for dialoging and character interaction. AND I don't agree with flaming _at all_ I was just on a big rant which kindof side tracked from the point that I don't think they should make such a big deal out of flaming, they should just ban the loser and get on with life. Though, the warning that flamers will be kicked from the friends list probably needed to be said so all would know.

Anyway. as i said, i kindof got side tracked and what is a very minor irritation got blown up with what is really a whole-nother rant about fame and respect of fans. :)

Hope all is well for you.

(btw, in regards to earlier question, I would probably go to Canterbury or Victoria uni's, canterbury coz I live here anyway, or victoria because they have more closely the subjects I want.)
